Can't get enough G

When Capricious graced us with her presence, I thought we'll go through my mismatched decor. Laugh our butts off at my lack of taste. And possibly slap some paint on the walls. And we did that and more. Mantel more. Homemade art more.

Because we struck upon a theme I could get behind—the letter G—we ran with it. Or rather, Capricious did and I just went along with it. Our inspiration was a black letter G that my other sister had given me for Christmas a couple years back. Capricious came up with the idea of using black frames I already had on hand and stamping some Gs on some patterned paper—items pulled from my stamping collection. Easy and cheap. And just the beginning of what I'm calling Project G. Here's how our creation turned out and a peek at the mantel.

Happy 4th!

Ugh. So glad for that half day from work and having tomorrow off. Between new lesions that showed up on my MRI—that most likely account for my inability to move very fast and feeling tired, dizzy, and nauseous—and this antibiotic (it's some strong stuff) I'm taking for my ear infection, I'm one helpless basket case. Got home in time to throw up. I hate throwing up. So on the couch I went for the rest of this evening. I did finish Barefoot (read my review post here).

I managed to stop by Archiver's before leaving the city. I signed up for an acrylic album workshop (Chance would be so proud) and bought some fabulous paper for which I hope to have enough energy to make some cards with this weekend. Also to do this weekend: bake some cookies and research about my new lesions.

Juicy

I love receiving and sending mail (well, that doesn't include bills). A handmade note from the heart is irreplaceable. No, an email isn't the same. And these stamps, well, I'd be happy just to receive an envelope with nothing inside for these beauties. How can the Post Office bring back snail mail? With a great stamp! I think I may just have to order these.

Calendar time

It may seem a bit early, but it is indeed calendar time. Especially, if you are like me and love, love, love calendars...making them, buying them, flipping to the next month. Last year, I made my own calendar (layout and all). I printed, stamped, and embossed them, then gave them as Christmas gifts. It was a long (and fairly expensive) project. When I gave them out as Christmas presents, I wasn't confident they would be received happily. I could just hear, "What did Jessaca make us this year? I hope it's not another scarf." But, it turns out, there's been a request for my calendar-making skills again this year. Will I acquiesce or will I turn to Blueprint magazine's ready-made version? Only time will tell...

My ink and paper self

Anyone who knows me, knows I have an obssession with paper crafts, and even more importantly, you know my favorite paper/rubber stamp sources: Paper Source and Impress Rubber Stamps. If you don't know, I give to you the source to (almost) all my craftiness. Never underestimate the power of a hand-crafted card...is there a better way to tell someone thanks?

Calendar Girl

I'm a bit obsessive about the days of the week. I have no less than three calendars in my work cube. At home, you'll find a calendar in just about every room. Calendars seem to get me through the days.

As a salut to this organizational tool I so well admire, I'm making calendars for my clans. I was inspired by the simplicity of Port2Portpress' letterpress calendar. So bold, so beautiful.

Having no letterpress machine, I used rubberstamps instead. It was a fun adventure finding 12 stamps that would be bold and big enough to fill up my pages.
