All{terrain}

Did you know I'm addicted to Facebook? [Holds up hand] I, Jessaca G., have an addiction to Facebook. I'm not sure why because rarely does anyone post anything riveting. At least, not anymore. Not like they used to. It's almost as if social media etiquette has taken hold or the allure has grown dusty. I can't say I post as often as I used to and when I do you can just about bet it's of my son. Sad, but true. He's my life. Simple as that.

I digress. Lately, the ads have gotten to me. Those tiny little thumbnail ads are clever. They speak to me in a why no other advertising has. I'm almost immune to such antics. Well, unless you're JCPenney's (have you looked at their sales ads recently?), Starbucks, or Target cuz then we're quite friendly. On first name basis if you will. They might even know me as Jess or Jessie, and I'd be OK with that cuz we're tight. Anyway, those ads. They've captured me, and my most recent click as on the Terrain ad.

Wow.

Simple. Stately. Classy. Cozy.

Expensive. But window shopping is free. So I do it often.

But what really got me was their emails. They're not bold. They don't scream at you in big fonts and bright colors. They make the designer in my sigh with lust.

They captured my heart with muted, understated photography and amazing product you don't see anywhere else. It's a shop that really does make me go: Oh, the holidays could be simple if I let it be.

That red door. Those little twinkle lights. That tree stump.

Maternity leave to-dos

I've been thinking of things to keep me occupied when the baby is napping and I'm looking for something to do. These will probably yeah, right, but it's still fun to think I might do something other than feed, burp, and change poo everyday. A first time mom can dream.

1. Read a couple books. Not sure what yet.
2. Organize the office.
3. Knit, good woman, knit. I want to knit: Chewy a simple garter stitch blanket, cowls, fingerless gloves, and maybe this delicious sweater.
4. Go thrifting.
5. Journal.
6. Blog more. Hopefully not just of the kid.

Shopping spree

I've been needing to go shopping for some new clothes for some time now, but usually I find things I like only to talk myself out of them because of the price. Buying usually requires shopping with someone can talk me into it. But today, a backup wasn't needed.

The Limited at Town Center is closing. Something about the lease is up, but the way the sales clerk said it made me think something else is up. I didn't mind though. I told her stores can close more often—Almost everything was 60% off. So I got seven tops for less than $100. My kind of shopping!

Check out my new boots

They're riding boots. But there will be no riding, just strutting my stuff. Can't wait til they arrive. I ordered them in black.

When she shops

Went shopping today for clothes, something I rarely ever do. Actually, make that spending money is something I rarely ever do unless absolutely necessary. I've even become known as tight wad at work, I think, because of my frugal ways. (Hey, I buy Starbucks from time to time; that's not frugal!) But I needed some presentable clothes for work because I'll be in Vegas next week hobnobbing with all the biggest AV companies in the world at InfoComm. Can't really wear jeans and a T-shirt. So a hundred or so bucks later, I've got a few new shirts to wear there. I also picked up a cute dress for a wedding I'll be attending next week. But, ugh, spending money on clothes made me feel sick to my stomach. In my head I was thinking: That's money that could go in savings or help pay down debt. Not sure where my penny-pincher ways came from, but we have almost finished paying off our credit card debt. We'll still have school and car loans, but those things are hard to get by without, so I'm comfortable with having those. Our next big purchases: house, new car (Jonathan's car is two wheels in the graveyard), and you know, a baby...eventually; what's the going price for those suckers now days? I wonder if I can get one on sale. I'm all about coupons and discounts.

Juicy

I love receiving and sending mail (well, that doesn't include bills). A handmade note from the heart is irreplaceable. No, an email isn't the same. And these stamps, well, I'd be happy just to receive an envelope with nothing inside for these beauties. How can the Post Office bring back snail mail? With a great stamp! I think I may just have to order these.

When sinuses and allergies attack

My eyes are itchy. My fingers are twitching to rub them. Must. Keep. Fingers. Typing. My throat is scratchy and sore from whatever is draining down the back of my throat. (Nasty, I know.) My head hurts. You would think that an $11 bottle of eye drops, Zrytec, and nose spray that I would be in tip-top shape. Nope. Stupid indecisive weather. And just when I'm about to take time off. Figures.

Today I ran across the street after work to Macy's. I was in desperate need of my most valiant commodity: Clinique's City Block. If you don't like to wear foundation, it's perfect. It's only lightly tinted, goes on like a lotion, and it's loaded with SPF. Must protect the youth. And no break outs. On a whim, I picked up some Redness Solution Daily Protector. We'll see if it works. I'm not counting on it, but every once and a while my whims prove to be a worthy buy.
