Pain in the neck

I had my very first massage last Friday. I was, up until then, a massage virgin. I could never bring myself to spend the money on something that wasn't tangeble. Boy, have I been missing out.

My neck had been bothering me, and I had know from getting MRIs for my MS that I had a slight curve up there. (I think this body model has been recalled.) Recent pain from stress was making it hurt all the time except when I'm practicing yoga.

I signed up for a massage at Massage Envy. I know. A chain. Evil. Makes me think of that Friends episode where Phoebe rips up Rachel's coupon for free massage because Phoebe doesn't want her to know she's sold out. But it was just the quick fix—well, if 1.5 hours is quick—I was needing, and I'm contemplating making it a regular monthly event with some recommended massage therapists through my yoga studio.

Pain really can lead to good things.

  1. Oooh massage is so good for you! I am in need of one too, mostly on my shoulder area from sitting at a desk all day. What kind of massage did you get? I have never had a "sport massage" as I have heard they are really intense, and almost leave you more sore afterward. I like the hot stone massage a lot...

  2. It was a swedish massage, but I told her to go "firm" having chosen from gentle, firm, and deep. It was intense in some parts, so I'd hate to think what a deep massage is like. I probably would have been part of the massage table. Heh.

  3. You're alive!...?...I thought you died in blogland...never to be read again....

    Glad you resurfaced.

    Jealous of your massage...

But, happy you took the money to indulge and treat yourself!

  4. I know. I need to have children just to have good blog material. Really my life has been so boring lately that it's not bloggable. It's awful.

  5. That intro offer is too good a deal to pass up. But definitely back to the independent operators for the next ones.

  6. Yeah, I loved that intro offer. An 1.5 was awesome! I won't be able to afford that, but I think an hour would be just as fine.
